When you're in a new, unfamiliar place, a travel guide is your only source of survival, except for a local tourist guide. A travel guide is obviously not a pure brochure that you can browse to get you excited about traveling to a new place. It has to state wherever you want to go in the city. If your travel guide doesn't provide enough details then you will be lost in no time. Here's a list of the details a travel guide should provide.

Finding the comfort

After a whole day of walking around the cobblestone sidewalks and tourist spots, you 're going to want to rest your tired feet. A good hotel or inn will be your last destination on an overnight tour or even longer. You 're going to long for the comfort your beds and sheets offer you back home, so it's important to have a good place to sleep. Make sure it's equipped with all the things you need, such as a chill-out sofa, a coffee table, enough cabinets and drawers, and most importantly, your own bathroom and bathtub. The price is another thing to be considered. Well-known hotels are naturally more costly, complete with a kitchen, luxury bathtubs, and even a terrace with a stunning view. They also have a lot more promotions, such as a bedside breakfast or lunch buffet, and spas or massages.

Finding the vocabulary

Some travel manuals also have basic language booklets or bits of key words you'll need to know to communicate with the locals. They usually have simple words and sentences such as "what", "where", "how much", "I'll take this", "please" and "thank you".

Finding the protection

If your travel guide contains important phone numbers such as the embassies, the airport, major airlines, the local police and the tourist information center, then it's good for you. It's sure to come in handy when you find yourself in big time trouble.

Finding the gorgeous

It goes without saying that travel guides should have a list of tourist attractions of a certain location. These will help you to budget your time to visit all the lovely places and make your trip a memorable one. If you're lucky enough, you might get a tour guide that has not only a list of tourist spots, but also a list of places that the locals visit. In this way, you will taste the place and feel like a local.

Finding the taste

Well, the last but not least, for the times where you want to try the local delicacies, check for restaurants in your guide.
